Ekangala`s Art Forum Ends the Year with a Bang!

Artists will be competing against each other as Imbewu Arts and Culture Forum in Partnership with Mokete Molebatse will be hosting its last event of the year where a Talent Search show will take place and winners walking away with cash prizes.

The purpose of the Talent Search is to bring about an Artistic revival to the township of Ekangala and to create jobs for Artist.

“The event which is also a closing function for Imbewu Arts and Culture Forum aims to identify and develop artist in and around Ekangala” said Kholofelo Mphago who is the founder of the Forum, a businessman and an Artist himself. He said that he had this idea brewing in his mind for years that his community have an Arts Centre that will create a solid platform or foundation for Artists where they can express themselves and showcase their talent.

After speaking to his fellow Artist friends Choreographer Calvin Mampa and DJ Paul Monama who came through and supported the idea, they formed a Forum which consist of various Artist from Ekangala who also work as volunteers and are endorsed by City of Tshwane under Arts and culture Department.

The Talent Search event will be held tomorrow at Masakhane Community Hall in Section F Ekangala (Dark City) from 10 in the morning.

In its 51st couture show, Balenciaga`s creative director Demna Gvasalia unveiled the brands latest collection at the Balenciaga`s historic salon in Paris.

Models showcased the latest couture collection with their faces covered with Balenciaga`s High- Tech attention grabbing face masks. The face shields according to highsnobiety, are made in collaboration with Mercedes-AMG F1 Applied Science ( an engineering-focused division of Mercedes), the slick shields are made of tinted polyurethane boasting anti-fog technology. " it is engineered to optimize air flow, improve performance metrics and ensure a stabilized CO2 intake". 

The face mask were also worn by some of the guests at Balenciaga`s celebrity-packed Couture Show Afterparty.

Michael Kors X Ellesse

Its always exciting to see iconic clothing brands team up because they always come up with something fresh. Michael Kors collaborated with Ellesse for an athleisure collection which comes with its own logo that includes the signature MK combined with Ellesse's Tennis and Ski logos.

"We teamed up with the longtime tennis tastemaker to put a retro spin on activewear and accessories with off-court appeal" stated Michael Kors website. according to its website, the collaboration aces seventies-inspired cool with sport-luxe essentials for him and for her.  

 

Speaking to WWD, Kors said he wanted to work with Ellesse because the brand was selling well at a tennis club on Long Island New York. Kors said that this capsule was something that he always intrigued to do and loves things that are graphic and bold. He also added that he felt it made sense when people today are wearing athletic clothes not only to the gym.

The Arts Come Alive in the Community of Ekangala

 After many years of less recreational, artistic and cultural activities in Ekangala, the Old Traffic Department will now be home to Imbewu Arts and Culture Forum and aspiring artists in Ekangala.

Imbewu Arts and Culture Forum is an organization consisting of various Artists from around the community with tons of experience in the Entertainment industry, the forum aims to introduce relevant platforms and avenues for professional Artists to showcase their work and to share information that benefits the community in terms of Art Education, Permaculture and wellness activation to name a few. 

The forum, with support from Royal Purpose Foundation and City of Tshwane Municipality will be formally launched on the 30th of April 2022 by hosting its first Festival at the old Traffic department in Newtown Section next to Proper Bar. 

All Artist in Ekangala are invited as the forum believe that Art should be accessible to all regardless of class, gender, race or boundaries.

Fashion @ Smoking Dragon Music Festival 2021

Now in its 12th year, Smoking Dragon is an annual music festival that takes place on the 31st of December to the 2nd of January which according to their website, aims to promote and support artists, athletes and communities by creating exciting and novel festivals that all South Africans enjoy.

Festival goers from around the country and mostly from Johannesburg and Pretoria flocked Bergville to usher in the New Year whilst listen to some of the best artist in South Africa such as Jack Parrow, Simphiwe Dana, Slick Angel, Tidal Waves and Naftali of The Royal Family to name a few.

The sun came out and gave a perfect opportunity to view the scenic and beautiful Northern Drakensberg Mountains and also for festival goers to dress up.
