Rihanna in a Turban

Music superstar Rihanna wears a Turban in the coming May 2020 cover of British Vogue. Some of the images featured in the magazine where published on her Instagram account.

When I first saw the cover I wondered what was so different about the image, then I realised that the Island girl is wearing a Doek, turban or Durag as stated in the British Vogue. The magazine said that the tainted fabric has been reclaimed as a symbol of black beauty, a signifier of style worn on the streets, the catwalk, the red carpet… And now, in a powerful mic-drop moment, the durag is making its first appearance on the May 2020 cover of British Vogue, worn by Rihanna, stated the magazine.

New York Fashion Week: Fall/Winter 2020

The past weekend was the busy one for the Fashion Industry, New York was buzzing with fashionistas, bloggers, influencers and photographers because Fashion Week took off in west coast, while on the other side of the coast was the 92nd Academy Awards, One of the most high-profile fashion event of the year. Its exciting for us because we get to see and be inspired by the latest style.

The weather is still warm in South Africa but Autumn is approaching and  have been checking very stylish platform boots worn on the streets of New York during Fashion Week. Here is a few:

Jean-Paul Gaultier`s Last Show

Legendary French fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier bowed for the last time in the fashion industry during his spectacular Paris Haute Couture Fashion Show.

After 50 years of making designer clothes worn by actors, musicians, socialites and the elite, the 67 year old fashion designer showcased his latest and last 2020 Spring Summer Collection on Wednesday at a star studded Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.

 The creator revealed on Instagram last Friday that he would be bowing out with a big party to mark 50 years in the business. His brand told the media that his high-end fashion and perfume business would live on, but that Gaultier was retiring from designing clothes himself. Rest assured haute will continue with new concept said Jean-Paul.

1980`s music icon Boy George also performed at the end of the event to pay tribute to Jean and his fashion career.

LUNAR UTOPIA

The past weekend was the family friendly Lunar Utopia Festival held at scenic Kaya Elangeni Farm in Magalieberg, the drive from home was worth it.

"Lunar Utopia-HONEY FOR LIFE"  is a regenerative and collaborative festival which aims to bring the moon tribe an experience of heart-opening, mind expanding and wonder filled celebrations.

Festival goers were treated to beautiful music while surrounded by lush green pastures, feeling the fresh air under the shade of indigenous trees.
